I feel a great disturbance in the fandom

All right, friends, in light of upheavals on tumblr, I've taken the liberty of creating this community for fans of Star Wars Legends -- i.e, the old "Expanded Universe" before Disney shelved it in favor of their own stuff.

Right now, the rules are still in flux as we wait for the dust to settle and see what sticks and what doesn't. In general, let's keep the conversations Legends-centric and be kind to each other. By "Legends," we mean any Star Wars material prior to Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm in 2014. Use tags, warnings and cuts where appropriate, especially for longer posts. No ship wars, please.

Some of my favorite Legends novels are the Darth Plagueis novel, the original Thrawn trilogy, Outbound Flight, and Labyrinth of Evil.

One of the characters I miss the most from Legends is Mara Jade.

I remember reading a whole bunch of the Young Jedi Knights novels when those came out.

I find Courtship of Princess Leia intriguing for the Dathomirians and Hapans and am currently writing an AU fanfic that takes place during the Darth Plagueis novel but will be referencing stuff from Courtship of Princess Leia.

TCPL is a gift to fanfic writers on so many levels - how could we be so lucky as to get Hapes AND Dathomir in the same novel? I hope you'll post a link to your fic on AO3 if and when you post.

When I was a kid, I read everything in the New Republic era until New Jedi Order came out - I was so traumatized by Chewbacca's death in Vector Prime that I refused to read any further. I'm slowly making my way through all the Clone Wars material that came out afterwards. Currently, my favorite is Yoda: Dark Rendezvous, but I'm looking forward to reading the rest!

Hi! It seems we have some similar tastes! I wasn't a fan of the New Jedi Order series, either, haha. That series made a lot of decisions I wasn't fond of, including killing off Chewbacca. I haven't read Dark Rendezvous, but I'd like to do that at some point!

It's a Palpatine redemption fic. One of the main characters, Mother Talzin, is a Nightsister, so naturally I've been trying to throw in references from Courtship of Princess Leia. I plan to eventually include the Light Side Dathomirians as well, but I have a huge villain fixation, hence my focus on the Nightsisters haha.
